Principal and Vice Principal’s Message

Happy New Year! Whether your break was spent away or at home, I hope all of you enjoyed the time away and found time to relax and spend time with family and friends. Breaks are a great way to recharge ourselves and gear up for new beginnings. Here at Anne Hathaway, we look forward to working with you to educate your children, helping them to achieve their fullest potential. Please reinforce in your children the importance of putting forth their best effort in all they do and to ask questions when they are unsure of something. As always, if you ever have any questions, concerns or feedback, please feel free to contact your child’s teachers or the school office.

Holiday Concert

It was great to see so many people out to enjoy our Holiday Concerts in December. I first want to give a huge thanks to Ms. Pearson for her leadership and hard work in coordinating the concert. Thank you also to Mlle Fontaine for lending her musical talents to leading and accompanying choirs. Our appreciation is also extended to Ms. Petrie’s class for preparing the lunches. Finally, thank you to all staff and students for the work they did in making the concert such a success.

As you know, lunches were made available for those who wished to purchase them. The $75.00 profit from the sale of those lunches will be donated to the House of Blessing.

 School Advisory Council Meeting

Our next School Advisory Council Meeting will take place on Monday, January 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the school library.

We have noticed an increase in the number of students being dropped off prior to 8:15 in the morning. Unless students are attending the breakfast program, they should not be dropped off prior to this time as supervision on the yard does not start until 8:15.

We are also asking that parents not go to their children’s classroom when dropping off and picking up. I am sure you can appreciate how this contributes to congestion in the halls as we try to quickly get 400 students settled in to start their day and again at dismissal time.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Family Math Night

Save the date! Family Math Night will take place on Tuesday, April 9. This promises to be an exciting evening full of Math games and activities for families to do together. There will be no cost for families to attend this evening but it is a family night so children must be accompanied by an adult.

Math At Home

We all use mathematics daily in what we do. Involve your child in using numbers to solve problems and make those everyday decisions with you. For example:

  • “Do we have enough plates and utensils for all the guests coming for the birthday party?”
  • “We are doubling this recipe. How much of all the ingredients will we need?”
  • “We are fertilizing the lawn. The fertilizer bag covers three square meters. How many will we need?”

“This store is selling the game you want for 20% off of $27.00. That store is selling the same game for $19.99. Where should we shop?”
