Principal’s Message

Bedford celebrated the Olympics last week with great spirit and enthusiasm. Children travelled from activity to activity in their multi-aged packs. The weather did not cooperate but that did not quash any of the positive cooperation and competitive spirit as the event was moved indoors out of the rain. We had such an amazing response to our flag project that international flags have taken over our front hall. It is awesome to see so many children pointing their out with pride and observing others with interest. I have lost count of the number of countries that our student identify with as their cultural roots and the Canadian maple leaf flags that also adorn our walls. As one student put it, “raised in Canada but rooted in…”. We truly are made better by the diversity we celebrate.

Calendar

Please note that all dates and details of trips etc. are posted on the Bedford PS website on our Calendar page. We work hard to keep this up to date as the month progresses.

Donations

Thank you to all the parents who made donations through our milk and pizza orders online. This month $111 was donated!

Snack Program

We have served 15,000 snacks since September!

We are looking for a volunteer to cut fruit on Thursday mornings, starting after March break until the last week of May.

Save the Date!

Family Fun Night is on Thursday, May 10th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.  This is the best night of the year for the kids! Games, food, fun, crazy jars and silent auction items mean that there is something for everyone. Family Fun Night funds raised go towards supporting many things at the school. This year’s wish list is: classroom donations, the snack bin /fruit tray program, Kiwanis registration, electives for juniors, Grade 6 graduation, student volunteer thank you event and technology updates (mainly laptops for the smart boards) Your support adds so much to the school and our children!

We are still in need of a few people who would like to help with the planning and organizing of Family Fun Night. This year that would mean working alongside the current organizer(s) so they can show you the ropes in their last year organizing. The key areas are food, silent auction and overall helper. If you are interested in helping out or simply want more information, please email mandyvoyce@hotmail.com.

For the 5/6 contest, first place goes to Sohan and second to Eileen, both grade 6 students from Mrs. Johnson’s class. Third place goes to Sean in Mme Quinn’s Grade 5 class.

Neighbourly Request

We have been contacted by a neighbour who has asked us to pass on a concern about students ringing doorbells on the way to and from school. We have made an announcement to our student body. Please reinforce with any walkers the importance of being respectful to all our neighbours when walking to school (or anywhere in the community.)

Each year we celebrate the “graduation” from Bedford. The date has been set this year for Wednesday, June 27 at 1:00 at the school. More specific details will come your way as the date approaches.
