Principal’s Message

As we head into the final stretch of the school year and the weather continues to improve, we have to constantly remind ourselves that there are still three months of school left, and busy months they are! The staff is providing many exciting opportunities for students to enrich their school experience through events such as intramural sports, class trips and activities. Our focus continues to be on student engagement and
creating lessons and activities that provide opportunities for our students to communicate and collaborate, be creative, solve problems, and think critically. As always, I encourage you to talk to your child(ren) about school and the things he/she is learning, and maintain open lines of communication.

E.E.S Green News
Earth Month – April 2017
“Treat the earth well. It was not given to us by our parents…
It was lent to us by our children.” Kenyan Proverb

Earth Hour
Thank you to all the EES families who participated in this year’s Earth Hour on March 25. 187 countries worldwide participated in this important event to shine a light on climate action. Earth Hour is a fun way for families to spend time together and think about ways to help care for our planet.

Litterless Lunch Days (Thursdays: April 6, 13, 20, 27)
The purpose of our litterless lunch days is to heighten awareness of students, parents and educators regarding the part we play in contributing to the waste stream everyday. Although the trash you produce may go out of your thoughts as soon as you put it in the garbage can, it does not magically go away.
Much of our school garbage comes from snacks and lunches. We are trying hard to reduce the amount of garbage we produce. On Litterless Lunch Thursdays, any garbage that is brought to school, will be returned home with students. Items that are being recycled, reused or composted are not counted as garbage. Students that bring a litterless lunch will be entered into our weekly ECO draws.

Community Clean up April 21
Our school will be participating in a clean up of our parks, paths, streets, playground, sports fields. Students are asked to bring washable gloves and a plastic grocery bag for this activity. Let’s help to make Exeter clean and green!

This year, our popcorn sales were a great success, as we were able to donate $1000 to Free the Children organization. Thanks to all who purchased popcorn and helped us make a global impact.
In addition, we are pleased to have met our goal of raising $500 from our Valentine Gram sales. We have chosen to donate to our local food bank, which will help many families in need.
Me to We will be hosting a couple of spirit days in April. On April 7th, we will have Wacky Hair Day. On April 28th, we will have Rainbow Day. We also plan on hosting a plastic Easter egg hunt for students closer to Easter holiday. We wish everyone a happy Easter, and remember, together we create change!!

Thank you to Farm Credit Canada for your $250.00 donation to our school snack program.
