May 2017 Newsletter

Principal’s Message

It hardly seems possible that there are only two months left for this school year – the school calendars are rapidly filling up. With the arrival of spring we hope the nice weather continues as we have several outdoor activities approaching.

Our school Track & Field day is set for May 16 and students are looking forward to putting their skills to the test. Once again, our school council will be operating a food both during the event.
Many of our classes have been and will be taking part in workshops sponsored by the Foundation for Enriching Education, such as, drama and art. We are always greatly appreciative of the support and programs offered by the Foundation.

Gr.3&6 EQAO Assessment time is fast approaching. Our school will be writing from May 23 – June 02. If you have a student in one of these grades we ask for your support to ensure that they are able to attend school each day during this time and to please avoid scheduling appointments

Finally, as we wind down Term 2, it is important for students to really focus on doing their best on all their learning activities, give that extra effort to challenge their thinking and learning and to strive to achieve to the best of their ability. The staff will be providing many opportunities for students to showcase their abilities both in the classroom and around the school.

Allergy Reminder

At E.E.S. we do all we can to ensure a safe environment for every person in our school. A significant issue schools deal with is environmental allergies. At E.E.S. we are no exception. There are those in our school who suffer from sensitivities to life-threatening allergies to scents (perfume, cologne, body spray, etc) and foods (specifically peanuts, tree nuts and eggs). We respectfully ask for your consideration when packing lunches and please ensure to read food labels. Also, please ensure you are scent free when visiting the building. Thank you for making E.E.S. an allergy safe environment for all our staff and students.

Sports Updates

The Jr. Floor Hockey team had a great showing at the Regional tournament making it all the way to the finals. Way to go Jr. Panthers. Students in Grades 3 to 6 are preparing for Track & Field. Our school meet is on May 13.

School Council

School Council Spring Fundraising Orders will be available for pickup on May 9th from 2:30-5:30 pm in the school gym. Please make arrangements to pick-up orders during this time. Thanks to all that supported this fundraiser.

May 16th is our school Track and Field Day. The rainout date is set for May 18th. School Council will be sending out food order forms next week. Please complete and return to help us ensure we have enough for everyone. We will have a “candy table”, so bring your quarters, loonies and toonies. Good luck to all of the students competing. We hope it is nice weather for all!
