Learning is a responsibility shared by the school, students, home, and community. Our focus will continue to be student academic achievement, encouraging students to take advantage of the many extra-curricular opportunities offered and the continued development of the ten character attributes espoused by the Avon-Maitland District Board. Our dynamic professional staff will strive to do our best to meet student’s needs by providing an enriching learning environment. This year we have three classrooms doing the outdoor Forest School Program. Our grade three teachers have been piloting a small ipad project and with the purchase of another cart our students in other grades will be using these powerful learning tools.
We have a very active Parent Community. Our School Council and Parents in Action Committee have worked tirelessly to fund raise so that our school can provide technological and academic opportunities for our students. This year our parent group is fund raising for bussing for Kiwanis, performances, planners, trips, swimming, skating, ipads and classroom resources. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful group of dedicated parents.
We welcome parents and community partners to join our committees and to volunteer in our daily programs and excursions. Last year we had over 50 volunteers working in our building doing such things as reading with students, knitting, drumming, preparing snacks and supervising field trips. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or the school administrative staff if you have any questions or concerns.
