What a wonderful…and busy Fall we have had so far! November is looking to be no different! This month, we are looking forward to welcoming our 2019-2020 kindergarten students to our Calling All Three Year Old program on Monday, November 26th. If you have a child who was born in 2014 or 2015, or know someone who does have a child born in those years, please contact the school and we can book your appointment for registration.
Our character attribute this month is Courage. On Friday, November 9th, we will celebrate the courage of our past, present and future veterans who have given us the freedom that we enjoy today. Our Remembrance Day ceremony will take place at 10:00 in the gym for all students. A big thank you goes to Mrs. Stern and the classroom teachers for all of their hard work with our students for this ceremony.
Our next School Council meeting will be on Monday, November 12th at 6:00 pm. New members are always welcome.
As always, if you have any questions, concerns or celebrations, please do not hesitate to contact us at the school.
Mrs. Erin Cassone and Mr. Rob Holland
Learners Today Leaders Tomorrow
We strive to ensure that all students achieve their potential, academically and socially.
Important – End of Day Dismissal and Alternative Arrangements
All of our students have routines to get to and from school each day. We understand that there are times when these plans need to change. If you are in need of alternative bussing arrangements (for example: picked up at home, dropped off at childcare), we ask that you please contact the office to get an “Alternative Transportation Request” form. All requests must be approved by our transportation department first and will require some time to process. You will be contacted when arrangements have been confirmed.
We also understand that occasional and emergency circumstances arise and same day changes need to be made (for example: picked up instead of ride the bus). We ask that all requests for same day changes come to the office before 12:00 noon. The end of day dismissal is a very busy time in the office. We cannot guarantee that changes can be made if we receive a call late in the afternoon. Thank you for your help in getting everyone to and from school safely.
Please note: Students will not be permitted to change their regular bus riding arrangements for events such as birthday parties after school or getting together with friends.

Identity Based Data Collection
Attached to this link is information about Identity Based Data Collection. This is taking place in December.
Before and After School Program Survey Information
As part of our ongoing commitment to make the school day as seamless as possible for our families, we ask parents/guardians to share their tentative childcare needs for September of the next school year (2019) by completing an online survey. The survey will be available October 1, 2018 and can be found on the AMDSB website.
Families that are interested in Before and After school programs for their Junior/Senior Kindergarten children and/or grade 1 – 6 children are asked to complete the survey by December 1, 2018.
We appreciate your assistance as we determine the feasibility of offering such programs. If you require a paper copy, please contact the school.
Advance Kindergarten Registration for September 2019
Registration will be held at Little Falls on Monday, November 26th. Please call the school to reserve a time and arrange to pick up a registration package. Packages must be filled out ahead of time and returned to the school by November 19th. Registration includes a 60 minute appointment for parent and child. Pass the word!
Report Cards went home Monday, October 29th . Please contact the school if you have not received one.
Interviews will be held November 1st and 2nd. Interview times will be sent out with reports. If you cannot make the scheduled times, please contact your child’s teacher directly.
As we head into more wet and muddy weather, we ask that you please make sure that your child has clean indoor shoes for indoor class times. Clean, dry shoes help us to keep our classroom floors clean and ensure our kids can move about in classes such as gym and music safely. Thank you for your help!
PA Day and Parent Teacher Interviews
Friday, November 2nd is a PA Day. There will be no classes for students. Parent teacher interviews will be hosted on Thursday, November 1st from 4:00 – 7:00 and Friday, November 2nd from 9:00 – 12:00. Please note that Friday, December 7th is also a PA Day.
Compromised Immune System Information
We have children at our school with compromised immune systems. We request that you please let the office know immediately if your child breaks out with chickenpox, fifths disease, strep, or any other communicable disease (as identified by Perth District Health Unit) www.pdhu.on.ca. Attendance for your child will remain the same as per the Health Unit guidelines. However, we will inform the families of our at risk students that it is in the school so they may make an informed decision for their child’s health.
Christmas Toy Drive – November 26 to December 6
According to the Salvation Army, “One in seven Canadian children live in poverty, which means each year thousands of children go to bed on Christmas Eve not knowing if there will be any toys under the tree in the morning”.
Help us make sure every child in our community has a happy Christmas morning by donating a toy to our Christmas Toy Drive at Little Falls Public School.
We will be collecting new, unwrapped toys, as well as pajamas and gift certificates (for clothing and food), from November 26 – December 6. Little Falls Families are invited to donate a toy that a child of your child’s age and gender would enjoy.
As a School community, we want to ensure we give back to those in our community who are in need. If your family is in need of support over the holidays, please contact Mrs. Cassone or Mr. Holland. All calls will remain confidential.
Thank you in advance for your generous support!
From Ms. Lantz’s Grade 4 Class and Mrs. Newman’s Grade 4/5 Class
We would like to extend a big thank you to all of the families who have contributed to a number of events that have been hosted this past month. For our students who wore Red and White and donated money for our United Way Campaign, for our families who donated food to our Thanksgiving Food Drive, for our Students who wore Black and Orange and brought in change for our Change for Change Carnival and for our families who participated in the fall fundraisers this year. Thankyou! Your generosity is overwhelming and so greatly appreciated.

The 2018 Cross Country season was awesome! The runners were so motivated during training, often asking if they could run one more lap! At the meets they encouraged each other both before the start of the race, when nerves can take over and on the sidelines at the end, when it helped many runners to put out one last burst of speed. Lots of runners improved on how they did last year and the team’s results were just fantastic, both at the Regional Meet at Wildwood and at the Board Meet in Benmiller. Little Falls is definitely a school of runners.
A big thank you goes to Kelli Schiedel and Kim Jones for all of the time they put in making sure runners at various races were ready. We were quite lucky to have some DCVI alumni help the runners with their warm up at the meets. Thanks also goes to the staff who made changes to their plans to accommodate their students who were attending the meets.
We know we have such a supportive group of parents in St. Marys who encourage and run with their children and this really does make a huge difference! Thank you!
Many runners have already said they can’t wait for next year to run with the team again. Mrs. Brintnell and Ms. Bradshaw are also looking forward to next season. They had lots of fun and proud moments with this group of students! See you next year runners!
