January 2018 Newsletter

Principal’s Message

Happy New Year to everyone in the Mornington School community.

As always, December was a busy month. Our Christmas Concert and social time was well attended and I thank everyone for coming. Also, thank you to all staff and students for the assistance in helping to make the event a success. We have the best helpers here at Mornington Central!

Thank you to all who donated food to the Loaves & Fishes Food Bank in Milverton.
The Christmas shopping at the school was also quite successful. Ms Graham has a story about it in this newsletter.

Again, Happy New Year to everyone!

Parents and Visitors

As board policy dictates, parents and visitors are asked to check in at the office when entering the school and not to go directly to classrooms. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

School Council News

Happy New Year from School Council! Thank you to all families who purchased our Mint Smoothie chocolates.  We hope that you and your family and friends enjoyed them during the Christmas break.  We still have some for sale in the office at $2.00 each. Stay tuned for more activities through the school year.

Christmas Shopping

A huge thank you to all the students and staff who helped make the Mornington Christmas shop a success! We all look forward to this festive annual event and we hope our students enjoyed shopping for new treasures and gifts. The students were responsible for setting up the shop, counting change and wrapping the gifts. We also wish to thank all the families who donated their gently used items – we couldn’t have a shop without you! The money raised this year was $164.09. All funds will be used towards programs for students in our school. See you again next December!
Ms Graham

Thank you from Mrs. Ramsay

I would like to thank all of the families at Mornington for making this year’s Christmas concert a huge success. I would also like to thank the staff in taking time out of their busy schedules to practice with their classes. The students practiced very hard and were successful in putting on a good show. I am looking forward to work with your children in the New Year!

Your support at our school is greatly appreciated!

Lost & Found

We have quite a few articles of clothing in our Lost & Found box in the front hall. If your child(ren) are missing anything, please take a look next time you are at the school. Thank you.

Breakfast for Learning Program

At this time, I would like to recognize and sincerely thank the following organizations for their generous funding of our breakfast program: Huron-Perth Eat and Learn, Breakfast for Learning, and Breakfast Clubs of Canada. Also, a big “thank you” to the owners of the Tim Horton’s in Listowel (on Wallace) for their generous donation of Smile Cookie proceeds! Also, I thank the Mornington families who generously donate to the program. We are still feeding between 65 and 85 children. Thank you again to all the volunteers that make this happen. As mentioned we are in need of a couple volunteers. Please call the school office if you can help. Thank you.
